Stuck!? Sketches August Sketch - Happy Memories

Hi there Scrappy World!  Where has this summer gone??  I can't believe we are approaching the end of August already!  I had some free time recently and decided to play along with Stuck Sketches Awesome August Sketch!  Here is the inspiration sketch:

I selected a photo of my little brother Jack and I from when we were little.  My Mom said she had this professional photo take by my Great Uncle, and entered us into a "King and Queen" contest they were having in our home town.  (We didn't win :-(  LOL! )

I am a big fan of Simple Stories, and I think their "Documented" Collection worked perfectly for this photo.
I love mixing patterns and textures, and using lots of layers. Washi Tape is my new "must have, must use" scrappy item!
I used Tonic Studio's Indian Gold Nuvo Mousse with a circle stencil on the layout, and then outlined some of the circles with a Sharpie Pen.  I also dropped Black India ink from above the layout - and then blew on the drops with a straw to make them splatter.
My little brother's smile in this photo is priceless! I am so happy with how this layout came out.  I think the sketch was the perfect inspiration to capture this happy memory!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you get a chance to "get scrappy with it soon too!"

SOS Aug Sketch + Word "TRAVEL" Formal Night

Hi Everyone!  Thanks for stopping by!  I hope this FUN Sketch PLUS Word Challenge, from the Scrap Our Stash Challenge Blog, and my DT Layout below it, will inspire you to play along this month!!

Here is the Scrap Our Stash Sketch Challenge for August:
Besides the above Sketch - you ALSO need to include items from your STASH - that begins with the first letter in the word "TRAVEL."  Here is my take on the Challenge:

This is a photo of my hubby and I on one of the Formal Nights, on board our Westbound Panama Canal 14 Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder, back in May of 2016.  The base page is from My Minds Eye "Yes Please" Collection by Jen Allyson, along with Chipboard elements, stickers and Metallic Confetti Vellum.  I also used the small heart paper "Right Here" from MME's "From the Heart" Collection.

For the WORD "TRAVEL" I used,
T - Thickers / Tonic Studios Nuvo Mousse, Indian Gold / Theresa Collins Summer Stories
R - Ranger Distress Inks
A - Ampersand / American Crafts Amy Tangerine Thickers "Twins"
V - Velum (behind the cut outs in the square with the word LOVE)
E- the letter "E" in Love and in You and Me
L - the letter "L" in Love

Here are some close ups for you!
Here you can see the Metallic Confetti Velum behind the LOVE Diecut card.  ( Yes, I have a tiara on - all the ladies at our table wore tiara's and were princesses that night!)
I love Tonic Studio's Mousse!! I had fun using it a few different ways on this layout!

I used a stencil and created theses beautiful golden hearts with the mousse!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you will play along with us at Scrap Our Stash this month!!

CY #44 Die-Cut Challenge from Challenge YOUrself Blog

Hello Scrappy Friends!  It is time to share my Design Team Layout with you for the August Challenge over at the Challenge YOUrself Blog!  This month's challenge is :

I finally broke down and purchased a new Cricut Air 2 a few months ago, and I thought it would be perfect to use for this challenge!! I had fun designing the connecting MICKEY Head shapes in the Cricut Design Space, and then cutting it out on my new machine. I am still struggling a bit trying to get use to it - and hope to play around with it more!!  You don't have to use a  Cricut, any die cutting machine will do - or even a store bought die cut too!

Here is my Design Team layout for your inspiration - I used a photo of my hubby, Mickey and I, just before we boarded the Disney Wonder for our 2016 Westbound Panama Canal Cruise!

I love this "Magical Adventure" Collection from Echo Park!

Here are a few close ups for you:

I love to hid a hidden journaling tag in my layouts by making a pocket using 3D Foam Tape when adding a photo to my layout and tucking the tag in behind it. I add the journaling on the back of the tag.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope I have encouraged you to play along with us at the Challenge YOUrself Blog this month!

AUGUST SOS Tic Tac Toe Challenge - "Full Board!" Selfie with the Genie!!

Hello Scrappy Friends - this month's Tic Tac Toe Challenge over at the Scrap Our Stash Blog has so many AWESOME elements on it - that I decided to go "FULL BOARD" and gave myself an extra challenge to include ALL 9 items in the squares - instead of just picking one of the rows of 3!!

The layout below includes every one of the 9 items listed on the board above!  It was lots of fun trying to find all of the items in my stash and getting them to work together!!  I think this plan worked perfectly for this layout that captures a very happy memory!
We were getting off of a ride in Disneyland when the Genie came walking towards us.  I asked him if we could take a selfie together and he was happy to oblige!  As you can see in the photo - this made me smile almost as big as the Genie!

Here you can see some of the challenge items:
#1. The Color BLUE
#2. Hexagon
#3. Simple Stories
Say Cheese 2 pattern papers
#4. Brads
- I also created and cut the title out with my new Cricut Air! The Genie Diecut is from www.shopthedoo.com.

More Simple Stories elements - also another challenge element -
#5. Emoji - from Carpe Diem Emoji Love Clips
I made a
#6. Polaroid Frame for the photo and added
#7. Washi Tape to it.

Here you can see #8. the Star Stick Pin along with #9. the Map Paper that I used for the base page of the layout.

I had lots of fun challenging myself on this challenge, but you really only need to pick one row of 3 to play along.  Head on over to the Scrap Our Stash Blog for all the details and to check out some more inspiration from the Design Team.

I hope you get to play along with us this month!
