Double Challenge entry "You & Me Forever"

Hi Scrappy friends -
I saw this really cool sketch on Brenda's the Grand Divas Scrappy Place Blog and decided to give it a try!

As and ADDED Challenge she linked up with Rochelle from over at the THIS or THAT Challenge Blog, so that you have a chance to win a bonus prize!   Here is that challenge:

These are photos of my wonderful hubby and me, taken at a Sunflower Maze, here in New Jersey this past August.  I love sunflowers and he was so sweet to spend the day traipsing around a field of flowers with me.  We were lucky to go on a gorgeous sunny day, with beautiful blue skies and a few white puffy clouds!  With our busy hectic lives, I love that we are able to carve out some time to spend time together, and try to do so whenever we can.

We held hands, laughed, got a little lost...and he didn't complain when I took a ton of selfies and pictures!  We even stopped at a 50's Drive-In Restaurant for lunch and a cute farm stand on the way home too!

It was a WONDERFUL day and I feel so blessed to have spent it together with my guy in a field of flowers!

Love the colors in this collection by My Mind's Eye. I also like how the bold blue color of the Bazzill "North Sea" cardstock that I matted the page and the triangles with, makes everything "pop!"

I had this wooden title that was originally black, and actually was a magnet. I painted it the 2 colors, and I'm really happy with how it came out.  I glued a bright green twine to a circle that I first drew in pencil, to follow the sketch design.

Here you can see the "ticket" element that I added to play along with the This or That October challenge.

I added the date in this corner - with stickers that I have had forever - I chose white, to go along with the other word stickers that I used on the layout.

I love this little grouping of embellishments in the bottom left corner.  The clear "flair" embellie that I made with my fun new Epiphany Crafts circle punch using a piece of the pattern paper and clear resin sticker.  I fussy cut an inked some flowers and use brads that I've had in my stash forever!  I also painted a wooden & symbol with the same paint and technique I used in the title.

I've also entered this layout in the November Challenge over at the Studio Challenge Blog

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope I've inspired you to create!

Family Game Night Scrap Our Stash October Sketch Challenge

It's time for an awesome Sketch +3 Challenge over at the Scrap Our Stash Blog!!  This one is so versatile and a great way to use up some of your favorite scraps and stuff in your stash!!

I've had theses papers in my stash for some time....waiting for just the right photo(s) and layout.  I love the tag in this sketch - as tags are my favorite way to include a little bit of journaling in my layouts.  For the +3 part of the challenge, I used:
1. Desert - base page
2. Envelop - that I actually made out of one of the papers
3. French Wine - in the pattern paper and embellies

Here is my take on the sketch:

We had a spur of the moment "Family Game Night" with my brothers-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
We played one of our favorite games "Things!"
We had lots of fun laughing together!
I have also entered this in the November
"Something on an angle challenge" over at the
Here is the envelop I made out of one of the pieces of pattern paper, along with a grouping of embellishments.

I added a strip of Washi tape down the center of the photo the 2 stacks of cards for the game, and a little heart, as my take on the sketch.  I love the PRICELESS piece of Flair!!

Here you can see where I slipped in the tag with the journaling.

I Love this photo of us!!  Yes, it is a selfie - and I had to angle it like that to fit us all in!  Don't wait for a special occasion to spend time with those you love - get together and laugh and have fun whenever you can.  Life is too short and you never know what tomorrow might bring!

This is the front of the tag - I used stickers from the sticker sheet of the paper collection, and some real cool fibers.

This is the back of the tag - I love the added Washi - one of my favorite things to use!  Can't believe this was over 2 months ago... I think it is time for another game night soon!!
Hoping you will play along with us this month at the

October Challenge from the Challenge YOUrself Blog "Miami Sail Away!"

It's time for October's Challenge from the Challenge YOUrself Blog!   This month it is all about a beautiful color combination, and of course, be sure to include a photo with YOU in it!  I hope you join us and play along!  Check out all the rules and find lots more inspiration from our DT at the Challenge YOUrself Blog!

Here is my take on the challenge - Our "Miami Sail Away!"

This was the beginning of our 14 night Disney Wonder Panama Canal Cruise back in May of this year.  We were very late departing, as the CDC had to come on board and make sure the ship was cleaned properly, as there had been a Noro-virus outbreak on the previous cruise!  Disney really handled it well and no one on our cruise became ill.  Since we departed late, we were treated to a beautiful Miami sunset while sailing away!

As you can see in the photos below, I used lots of "stuff" from my stash.  I love the colors of the Pink Paisley "Prairie Hill" collections.  I've had these papers for quite some time  - and I am happy I was able to use them on this layout, for this challenge.

The title is wooden veneer from Heidi Swapp.  I used Ranger Distress Embossing Powder - Spiced Marmalade, and Ranger Ancient Gold - Goddess Gold embossing powder to change it up just a bit!  I am happy with how it came out.

I created a pocket behind the photo to add a journaling card.

I love this big flower and the cluster of embellies in this corner!

Flair is my new favorite embellishment!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you are inspired to create along with us this month at the Challenge YOUrself Blog!!

"How Awesome!" Scrap Our Stash October Book Cover Challenge

Hello everyone!
It is time for the October Book Cover Challenge over at

I have to be honest and let you know that I was kind of STUMPED on this one!  The only things that jumped out at me were the big hat, the mustache, the key, and the clock.  At first, I decided that was going to use the key and the clock as my inspiration, but I wasn't really "feeling it."

Take a look at this month's Book Cover Below:

As I was digging through my stash, I came across some beautiful papers that I've had for MANY years - you know, the kind that you don't really want to use, because then you can't use them again if you do? Does that make sense?  -or am I the only crazy scrapper like that?

Anyway, the colors in Kaisercraft's Prairie Lane's Collection matched the colors on the book cover perfectly, and I knew that I would use "color" as my inspiration!  So, if I was going to use the last papers I had in this collection, it had to be on a layout with a photo that was "worthy!" LOL!!  Below is my INSPIRATION layout for you - and I have to say, I LOVE how it came out!

This photo is from our trip to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon back in 2006!  We took an awesome tour with a very FUN guide, who had these great ideas for taking some amazing and funny shots!
I love how the papers and photo go so well together!
I also added paper twine ( the added challenge requirement) to the layout, by looping it and stapling it to the layout.

I actually ended up only using 2 pieces of pattern paper for this layout - the darker brown one as the base, and then I used the top terracotta one 3 ways!  I cut a mat for the photo out of the center on the turquoise side first.  I then tore around the outside pattern of the terracotta side, and inked those edges with copper distress paint.  I took the remaining "guts" that were left of that same paper, and inked the torn edges of the turquoise side with Ranger Peacock Feather Distress Stain, and glued it to the back of the terracotta side.  I then attached it to the darker brown pattern base, using 3M foam strips, to make it kind of a 3D frame for the photo.

I used 2 different feather dies to cut out different colors of cardstock and patterned paper, then inked the edges, to make the 2 grouping of feathers.  I added some small flowers and layered 3 different sizes of wooden hearts and added them to the group.  I also created a pocket behind the photo, and slid a journaling tag inside.  For a little something different, I even attached a small tag to that tag, with the location and date - and used more twine to tie them together.

Here you can also see how I used some FUN dimensional paints to make raised enamel looking dots in turquoise and bronze on the pattern paper too! Seriously, this photo just cracks me up! - Yes that IS the Grand Canyon behind us, but we were really standing on a wide ledge that was below that rock!

Here is the front of the tag....

...and here is the back of the tag!
(My hubby's face just cracks me up!! LOL!!)

I hope I've inspired you to play along with us at the
Hop on over for more inspiration and PRIZE info!!

As always, thank so much for stopping by! I look forward to seeing what you create!
