June SOS - Sketch +3 Our "Fabulous Escape"

Hi everyone!  It is time for the Sketch + 3 Challenge over at the SCRAP OUR STASH BLOG!

If you don't know how it works - just use the sketch below for your inspiration, and also pick ONE item or color from each of the 3 different lists!

When I was looking through photos, I found this one from our 2014 Disney Westbound Trans Atlantic Cruise.  When I saw the colors, the Purple frame, Minnie's Red dress, bow, heart and purse, and my hubby's Black shorts, I decided to search my "STASH" to see what I had in those colors and BINGO!  I found American Crafts Red Chevron paper ( I used the heart side ) and their Purple Dots paper (I used the squiggly line side) and a scrap of Black and white polka dot paper - I think was from Simple Stories "Say Cheese."

I love how this layout of our "Fabulous Escape" came out! I'll have to remember to use this sketch again - as the 3 different background papers really make it "FUN!"

Thanks to my friend Janice, who has an amazing STASH of flowers!  We were at a crop together and she let me dig through her stash.... I love how the different colors look layered together, and the heart button in the center just went perfectly!

Minnie is so much fun!

I love these chipboard heart arrows!  I painted them with Silver Distress Paint and the inked them with purple distress ink here and there, and added some purple tickles to some of the hearts.  Here you can see where I punched holes and sewed on the layout by hand.  Someday I hope to have a sewing machine (when I move into my new craft room maybe!)

Here is a close up of the stitching and some of them embellishments!  The "fabulous" title is a clear sticker that I have had forever! The white "escape" goes great with it - don't you think?

I made a tag, and stamped the date on it. I added some cool washi tape in all the colors - and some little embellies.  My favorite part of the tag are all the funky fibers I tied through the hole!  Thanks again to my friend Janice!  They go perfectly!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have a chance to play along with us at Scrap Our Stash, using this super fun sketch!

June Challenge YOUrself - Geometrics

Hi Scrappy friends! I can't believe it is June already and we are almost through half of 2016! I also can't believe that it has been 1 year since we took our amazing Disney Wonder Cruise to Alaska!

I decided to use one of my favorite photos from that trip for this month's Challenge over at the Challenge YOUrself Blog.  Besides including YOU in a photo in your layout - you need to use Geometric Shapes and patterns.   CLICK HERE for details and PRIZE info too!

Here is the challenge graphic:

Here is my Design Team Inspiration Layout:

This photo was a selfie that I took when we boarded the ship in Vancouver, at Canada Place.  We were so blessed to have been able to share this WONDERful trip with our sons and my parents.  The sights we saw, and family time we shared were PRICELESS, and will always have a special place our hearts and memories.

As you can see,  I decided to use the colors that were in the photo for the elements on my layout - White, Red, Blue and Black.  ( and of course a little pop of yellow here and there, to go along with Mickey's shoes!   I also cut 3 different size octagons, out of 3 different pattern papers, added colored mats behind them, and then grouped them in 3's using foam dots and added embellishments too!

Here are some close-ups for you:

I used lots of "STUFF" from my stash  - I even spritzed the white background with some Glimmer Mist!  Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you will play along with us at The Challenge YOUrself Blog this month.  I can't see what you will create!

June SOS Book Cover Challenge "All about Dad!"

Hi Everyone!  Happy June!  Can you believe we are almost half way through 2016??!!!
I don't know about you, but I am happy that summer is finally here and can't wait to spend time out on my deck relaxing, in the weeks to come!

June happens to be my FAVORITE month!   (1) Because it is my Birthday month ( I'll hit double nickels on the 14th!! YIKES!! - How did that happen??)  (2) Because June 14th is FLAG DAY  - and also my Birthday - and I LOVE Red White and  BLUE, the USA! and our "Grand 'ol Flag!" and last BUT not least (3) FATHER's DAY falls in JUNE - and I am SO VERY BLESSED to have the BEST Dad in the World!!

So... this month's Book Cover Challenge, over at Scrap Our Stash, is a PERFECT to celebrate my DAD, and I am SO VERY HAPPY with how this layout came out!!

Here is the challenge:

I knew I wanted to use a photo of my Dad, from Father's Day 2015  - and I knew I had a photo of him holding the "Fudgie the Whale" Ice Cream Cake we got him for Father's Day from Carvel.  It fit PERFECTLY with the Challenge!  We "Surprised" him with a cake we use to have when we were little, and still laugh about the "Tom Carvel, Fudgie the Whale" commercials!  Also, when I found the photo, Dad had on a YELLOW Shirt! - Now, the shirt in the photo doesn't count as a "STASH" item - but it sure helped to use it as a jumping off point - and to help select papers and embellishments from my "Stash!"

ALSO - another note on the challenge - your layout doesn't HAVE to be about a DAD - you can use anything from the book cover as your inspiration - maybe the paint splatter, or balloons, or presents. Maybe someone sitting in a comfy chair, or a special secret or surprise.... It is all about how YOU are inspired, so have FUN with it!!  Just let us know what inspired you!

Here is my layout - and I have to say, it is one of my FAVORITE Layouts to date:
YES he IS The BEST DAD EVER !!

As for the "POPS" of Yellow, I am sure you can see them in the layout and in these close ups.....

Loving the little mustache embellies and papers in this collection too! Can you see the tag tucked behind the photo?

Flair ( the round "Love" button) is one of my new favorite embellishments!

I made a pocket behind the photo, so that I could stick in a tag with journaling. I used 3M Foam to make the pocket. Loving the added texture the fibers bring to the layout!

More Mustache FUN on the tag too!

He sure is a "Whale of a Dad!"
Happy Father's Day Pop!!

I loved using the My Mind's Eye Market Street Nob Hill Collection for this Layout - I think the colors and style worked PERFECTLY for this challenge and with the photo!
