Scrap Our Stash October Sketch - Ordinary / Awesome Day!

Hello my friends!  I want to share the latest challenge at SCRAP OUR STASH with you today.  It is time for the October SKETCH Challenge - with a little added Challenge for you too - in addition to the sketch, you need to add something metal to your layout - Here are some ideas, Charms, Eyelets, Brads.... I know you have some "STUFF" like that in your Stash!  Here is your chance to use them!!

So - here is the sketch from Scrap Our Stash...

And here is my take on the sketch:

This layout is a little different from most of my layouts.  The sketch seemed to have a lot of blank space, and I tried hard not to fill it up too much, yet still make it my own.  I used a new technique (for me) with some Distress Stains and a baby wipe, and added some metal charms from broken bits of jewelry that I save for the "metal" challenge requirement.  I've had this title for a while, and decided it would be perfect to document and Ordinary Day, that turned into and AWESOME One, with a Surprise Birthday present from a friend, and an Iced Coffee from Starbucks!  I hope you will play along with us at the Scrap Our Stash Blog!

Here are some close ups and details for you:
I decided to put my journaling right on my base page, something I rarely do, and I was a little nervous about doing. I figured if I wasn't happy with it I could cover it up with something! I guess I got lucky because it didn't get covered! LOL!

I wanted to do something to highlight the journaling and fill up some of the blank white base with color.  I first tapped some Evergreen Bough Distress stain on a plastic plate, and brushed it on to the base.  You can see some of the brush marks in this photo.  I really wasn't happy with that, so I decided to grab a baby wipe, press it to the top of the foam applicator on the stain and rubbed it onto the paper.  I then did the same thing with the Fossilized Amber Stain too, and I have to say, I was very happy with how it came out!

In addition to the stains, I splattered Bell Bottom Jeans Glimmer Mist all over the layout too.  Also, in this photo you can see one of the 2 metal charms and a green metal brad I used to fulfill the added challenge.

Here is another metal charm - with a little bling, that I added with a metal brad as well.  I fussy cut the 2 Coffee "to go" cups out of the Shimelle "Mocha" paper - I really love these sweet little cups!

Here is the other little cup and some of the embellies from the title pack.  You can also see some of the Glimmer Mist Splatter here too.

Well, thanks for stopping by.  I hope you enjoyed a peek at my Ordinary / Awesome Day - and REALLY HOPE you will play along with us at Scrap Our Stash!!
