Scrap Our Stash October Sketch - Ordinary / Awesome Day!

Hello my friends!  I want to share the latest challenge at SCRAP OUR STASH with you today.  It is time for the October SKETCH Challenge - with a little added Challenge for you too - in addition to the sketch, you need to add something metal to your layout - Here are some ideas, Charms, Eyelets, Brads.... I know you have some "STUFF" like that in your Stash!  Here is your chance to use them!!

So - here is the sketch from Scrap Our Stash...

And here is my take on the sketch:

This layout is a little different from most of my layouts.  The sketch seemed to have a lot of blank space, and I tried hard not to fill it up too much, yet still make it my own.  I used a new technique (for me) with some Distress Stains and a baby wipe, and added some metal charms from broken bits of jewelry that I save for the "metal" challenge requirement.  I've had this title for a while, and decided it would be perfect to document and Ordinary Day, that turned into and AWESOME One, with a Surprise Birthday present from a friend, and an Iced Coffee from Starbucks!  I hope you will play along with us at the Scrap Our Stash Blog!

Here are some close ups and details for you:
I decided to put my journaling right on my base page, something I rarely do, and I was a little nervous about doing. I figured if I wasn't happy with it I could cover it up with something! I guess I got lucky because it didn't get covered! LOL!

I wanted to do something to highlight the journaling and fill up some of the blank white base with color.  I first tapped some Evergreen Bough Distress stain on a plastic plate, and brushed it on to the base.  You can see some of the brush marks in this photo.  I really wasn't happy with that, so I decided to grab a baby wipe, press it to the top of the foam applicator on the stain and rubbed it onto the paper.  I then did the same thing with the Fossilized Amber Stain too, and I have to say, I was very happy with how it came out!

In addition to the stains, I splattered Bell Bottom Jeans Glimmer Mist all over the layout too.  Also, in this photo you can see one of the 2 metal charms and a green metal brad I used to fulfill the added challenge.

Here is another metal charm - with a little bling, that I added with a metal brad as well.  I fussy cut the 2 Coffee "to go" cups out of the Shimelle "Mocha" paper - I really love these sweet little cups!

Here is the other little cup and some of the embellies from the title pack.  You can also see some of the Glimmer Mist Splatter here too.

Well, thanks for stopping by.  I hope you enjoyed a peek at my Ordinary / Awesome Day - and REALLY HOPE you will play along with us at Scrap Our Stash!!

"MIM" # 48 from The Memory Nest -Taco Festival!

Hello my Scrappy Friends!   It is time for the 2nd Sketch Challenge for October - from The Memory Nest Blog!

This is a great one!  It challenges you to fit 4 photos on one page - I know you will create something AMAZING!!

I decided to go with some photos from our visit to the First Annual NJ Taco Festival, held at the Sussex County Fair Grounds last month.  While the sunny day turned into a rainy one -and being a "FIRST Time Ever " Event, - they had LOTS of kinks to work out ( 1 hr + waits, poorly organized, slow check in, not enough food trucks/vendors, running out of food...)  I still had a great time - and had some delicious Tacos, Corn and a Margarita too!

So - here is the Sketch for your inspiration - Have lots of FUN creating something FANTASTIC with it!!

And here is my Design Team inspiration layout for you! :

When planning this layout, I could have sworn I had some patterned paper with tacos, or jalapenos on it somewhere in my stash - and thought that would work great.  Well, after searching and searching, I never did find it, BUT instead I found this beautiful Bo Bunny "Hello Sunshine"  Collection, that I had been saving for a "rainy" day!  When I saw all the yellow in it, I thought it would work our perfectly!!

I found this cute green ticket in my stash - and thought it would be a great place to make a list of what we ordered and the name of the Taco Truck we ordered from. The Smoked Brisket, white cheese, onion, cilantro, avocado soft tacos were really AMAZING!!

Let me tell you, the $7.00 Spicy Margarita was REALLY Good - I will have to search Pinterest for a recipe!

The Roasted Mexican Corn with mayo, white cheese, and hot sauce was worth the wait!!  #DELISH!

I've had these pretty resin flowers in my stash 4ever!  I think they worked out well on this layout, and I'm happy I saved them!!

Thanks for stopping by,  I hope I haven't made you too hungry!!  After you fix those tacos for dinner, be sure to come back and play along with us at The Memory Nest Blog!

Hi Everyone!!  Lots of Inspiration and Creativity going on this month over at the Scrap Our Stash Blog !

It is time for our "WORD" Challenge of the month and while it may look nice and easy since it is a short one - it might be a bit of a challenge for you -BUT that is what makes if FUN!!  You get to dig through your "STASH" - kind of like a Scavenger Hunt!  So get ready to play along with us!!

This month's word is "INKS"

I will admit that I did find the letters "I" and "N" a bit of a challenge - BUT I did find some yummy "stuff" while searching through my "STASH!"

Here are the items that I used for the Challenge:
I- Ink (for edge distressing)  and Graphic 45's Garden Isle paper from Tropical Travelogue
N- Net ( love this - I stapled it on!)
K - Key, Kaisercraft Sandy Toes Collection "Sea Shells"
S - Staples, Starfish, Stickers, Seashells

Here is my Inspiration Layout:

This is a photo from our 2012 Disney Wonder, Hawaiian Cruise. It was taken on the ship, just after we returned from an AMAZING excursion along the Breathtaking Na'Pali Coastline.  It is a day we will never forget!  I am really happy with how this layout came out.  I LOVE the Bright Blue mats with the off white Starfish paper, and I couldn't resist combining some my Graphic 45 Tropical Travelogue Collection. colors together with them.  Since this was a Disney Cruise, I had to add a few Mickey's to the layout too!  There are 3 of them - can you find them?

Here are some close ups for you too!:

Love the starfish and seashell paper - also, maybe I should have counted the 5 letter "i"s in Nawiliwili, Kauai as one of the components of the challenge LOL!

I covered a chipboard heart with a G45 sticker, and I love the sweet little 3D fish, and the anchor paperclip in this grouping.

Here you can see how I stapled the netting onto the page, and maybe you can spot a "not so hidden" Mickey too!

We had a very "WONDERful" time celebrating our 30th Anniversary on this Amazing 14 night Disney Wonder Hawaiian Cruise.  It is a trip we will always remember!

I hope this inspires you to come play along with us at the Scrap Our Stash Blog - Don't forget, you have until October 31st to LINK UP!  I can't wait to see what you will create!!

Now, here is my Inspiration Layout for you.  When I saw this color palette - I knew that I had to use the NEW Simple Stories "SO FANCY" Collection again - the colors are "SPOT ON!"

And - here is my take on ALL 4 CHALLENGES!!         I had so much fun making this layout! - Almost as much "FUN" as my Hubby and I had when we went to a convention in Atlantic City, back in 2013.  Let me just say - it was a night to remember (what we can remember of it that is!!) That's us in those photos, and what a "FABULOUS Adventure" it was!
I decided to play around with the background, on the yellow watercolor base page.  I first spread some Pearlescent Embossing Paste with a scrap piece of heavy weight paper, all over the base page. I then took some Tattered Angels - Glimmer Glaze - Pink Lady / Mellow Yellow and applied puddles to a piece of plastic packaging material.  I folded that together, and then pressed the 2 combined colors onto the base page in random spots.  After I dried it with the heat gun, I then did the same with just the Island Spring Glimmer Glaze, randomly pressing it over the layout.  The Teal Glitter textured circles were made with a stencil, and Bo Bunny Caribbean Glitterpaste - this was my first time using it - and I have to say, I think it is going to be quite addicting!
Here you can see how I outlined the sticker letters that came with the Simple Stories Collection. When I saw this 4x6 Card from the Collection, I just knew it had to be my title - and that I had to add the "With You!"  You can also see some of the color that the Glimmer Glaze left on the yellow base. I also splattered some of the Glaze onto the base and the dark blue "drippage" was from dropping drips of the dark blue "Bell Bottom Jeans" Glimmer Mist right onto the base too.

Here you can see some of the pearl shimmer, some of the splatters and more of that YUMMY Glitterpaste! - Oh and piece of pink paper washi tape to the left of the heart sticker too!
More of the pearl shimmer, Glitterpaste, 2 more pieces of washi tape, some more of the background glaze, splatters and drippage in this corner too!

So please stop by one of the 4 BLOGS hosting SCRAPTOBERFEST for lots of inspiration, and play along with us - You have until Oct 31st to Link Up - so GET SCRAPPIN'
