Lights, Camera, Action!

Well - I am still smiling and I'm very excited to have been selected to be in a "Cheerios Love Your Heart Video" for a series on their website!  I got the news yesterday by email, and then the photographer of the shoot called me from England to set it up!   They selected me because I am passionate about my hobby, ( Scrapbooking of course!) and  I need to be Heart Healthy to continue to do it.

This all started with a post from my cousin on Facebook - as her company Turnhere Productions was "looking for people between the ages of 40 & 50 who had a passion for "something" that they needed to be heart healthy to continue to do."

So - my "MOM" hat went on and I replied to her -
"Allie -who are you working for now? - and do they need anyone this summer for an Internship?" You see my oldest son is a Mass Comm Major at a Univ. in NH, and in his Jr. year and needs and Internship this summer.  I also added -"oh by the way - I am between 40 & 50 and I have a passion for Scrapbooking - LOL!!"  So she replied - The company is in Calif. & they don't pay interns ( that settled that right there!)  and I think you would be great for this - I'll email you the questionnaire from the client. "-- (as they have the final decision.)

Soo - I filled it out - and sent it in - and low and behold - I was selected to film the video!!

We are going to film the it tomorrow afternoon at my MOST FAVORITE SCRAPBOOK STORE - ...Scrap-a-Doodle-Doo in Ramsey, NJ !  THANKS to Stephanie and the Doodle-Doo Gang for letting us film at their great location!  How fun is that! - Woo Hoo! ;o)

Here are the questions and answer that I put on the Questionnaire that I filled out:

Describe yourself (2-5 sentences):

I am a full time working mom of 2 almost grown sons ( 21 & 15) and have been married to my high school sweetheart for 27 years. I am the Executive Assistant to the President of a Major Textile Company and have worked for the same company for 30 years. I love to cook, and host parties, and I come from a family of very creative people. I always love to be "doing" something and sometimes wish I could clone myself, so that the clone could do the things that I have to do ~ and I could do the things that I love to do!

What things (besides spending time with friends and family) are you most passionate about doing in your free time?
My favorite pastime/hobby is scrapbooking! Whether on my own in my little craft room, or at a my favorite local scrapbook store, or at a weekend scrapbook get-a-way with 50+ of my "closest scrap-buddies" - I LOVE to create! I am branching out into different mediums and always looking at ways to accomplish something new, while cherishing and honoring photos and memories of my family and friends. I teach technique classes at a local store and on my blog, as part of my passion is also teaching others to "think outside of the box" and reach and stretch out of their comfort zone to try something new. I enjoy showing them how to find their passion and watch their confidence grow.

When did you discover this interest? I have always been interested in arts and crafts, but really got into scrapbooking when my oldest son was in high school. I secretly made a scrapbook for him filled with photos and memories from when he was first born, to his prom and graduation. I presented it to him at his graduation party where he made a point of telling me how much he loved the book, and how all of the friends that he showed it to told him how they wished their Mom had done this for them. I was hooked ~ as I realized, not only did creating the book bring me joy, it brought him and others joy too!

How has it enhanced your life? Scrapbooking has helped me to remember and preserve photos and memories that will be handed down to my children and their children. It is a wonderful creative outlet that always challenges and relaxes me. It has enriched my life with a whole new set of friends who have the same passion as I do and who are generous and giving. It is an outlet for my creative side that I truly enjoy.

How do you make time to do it? I try to make time and dedicate at least one night a week after work, after dinner, after dishes and after going over my son's homework. I usually stay up until after midnight if my creative juices are flowing! I also have a very wonderful and understanding husband who doesn't mind if I attend a scrapbook weekend with my friends a few times a year, or a day long every other month or so.

What role does health play in making sure you can do what you love? Well, scrapbooking is usually done in a sitting position, so I try to eat healthy, and walk whenever I can. At scrapbook events, there is always chocolate and junk food, so I usually bring my own water and healthy snacks along with me.

So - I guess that info is what made them select me!  I'll be posting a link to the video, as soon as it is up on their website - In the meantime  - I think I'll go grab a handful of Cheerio's and I'll go to bed.

I'll need my beauty sleep for my "film debut" tomorrow!!

Cheerio everyone!
